Harley Burland is an intern at Navigator’s Calgary office supporting work with crisis communications, issues management, government relations and strategic communications campaigns. She received her Bachelor of Communications with a major in journalism from Macewan University, focusing on visual communications, news reporting, multimedia authoring, and research. She has experience in broadcast and web reporting.
In spring 2019, Harley hosted an international symposium -- Eye Witness Textures-- which focused on news coverage in the digital age with participation from both practitioners and scholars of journalism.
Prior to joining Navigator, Harley completed a three-month internship with Global Edmonton where she strengthened her reporting and producing skills. Following the internship, she continued to work with Global Edmonton as a freelance producer. She covered federal and provincial politics for Global News, producing live hits from candidate headquarters on election nights. Harley has also worked as a project manager and assistant director on several documentaries including an archeology project where she spent a month in Siberia.
Most recently, she volunteered to help the Salvation Army create corporate appreciation videos and is currently producing a podcast.
