fjohnston@navltd.comFiona is a communications and business strategist with more than 15 years of experience leading national programs that advance business objectives, reputation and growth priorities for complex, multi-stakeholder organizations. She brings experience across agency, corporate and non-profit communications, offering client-side and agency perspectives on communications strategy and execution.
Prior to joining Navigator, Fiona was responsible for enterprise-wide communications and stakeholder engagement strategies at Scotiabank. As an advisor to global heads of business, sustainability and social impact, she translated complex strategic priorities into integrated communication campaigns and thought leadership for internal and external audiences. Her work included supporting business transformation around the launch of Scotiabank’s inaugural Net-Zero strategy and advancing brand visibility through partner campaigns for ScotiaRISE, the Bank’s $500 million community investment initiative.
Within the not-for-profit sector, Fiona led b2b and b2c marketing and communications for Call2Recycle Canada Inc., a government-regulated consumer battery collection and recycling program. Working with a network of more than 400 member manufacturers and retailers and 9,000 collection site partners, she leveraged data-driven insights to develop multi-channel awareness campaigns that increased consumer awareness and participation in battery recycling. Fiona was also responsible for corporate communications which included internal communications, stakeholder relations, digital properties, and Board engagement.
Earlier in her career, Fiona spent nine years holding progressively senior roles in strategic account management. She led client work for Microsoft Canada, Purolator Inc., Business Development Bank of Canada, and The City of Richmond Hill delivering integrated, results-focused communications programs across sectors.
